Holiday Gift Guide

Bad ties. Polyester sweaters. Underwear. Socks. The latest New Kids on the Block CD. You don't want to get any of these gifts, do you? Fear not! Make sure you tell your loved ones about my blog, so they can check out my holiday gift guide. Whether you're celebrating Christmas, Hanukkah, or Festivus, there's something for everyone on this list.

1. Ted, White and Blue: The Nugent Manifesto - OK, OK...so my idea for Ted running for President of our great country didn't go over too well with you guys. Just hear me out. Ted, White and Blue is Uncle Ted's latest book on how he feels about today's politics. Whether you agree with him or he pisses you off, I have no doubts this book is a great read. I've read Gods, Guns, and Rock 'N' Roll and loved it. He's a smart man and makes interesting points. Just give ol' Uncle Ted a chance, will ya?

2. AC/DC - Black Ice - If you don't own this CD yet, then you're dumb. Buy it for yourself. Buy it for your brother or sister. Buy it for your cousin. Buy it for your aunts and uncles. Buy it for your grandparents. Buy it for your friends. Buy it for the janitor at your work. Just buy it. It f-ing rocks. There are three different covers to choose from. And in case you didn't know, it's only sold at Walmart.

3. Concert Tickets - With the crappy economy and the sky rocketing ticket prices, why not have someone else blow their cash on some concert tickets to a kick ass show for you? There are plenty of great tours coming up in the next couple of months, so make sure you tell you're sweetie, so he/she can foot the bill and take you.

Motley Crue with Hinder & Theory of a Deadman

Nickelback with Seether and Saving Abel

Buckcherry with Avenge Sevenfold and Papa Roach

Elton John & Billy Joel

Eagles

Black Label Society

Fleetwood Mac

3. Lifestyles of the Glam and Fabulous - If you're looking for one of a kind, hand made, really cool items, then look no further. Etsy is the place for you. Etsy.com is one of my all time favorite websites. It is a site for super crafty peeps to sell their super crafty, hand made goods. Anything from ties to furniture can be found here. I've purchased several items from Etsy and have always been more than satisfied. But there are two "stores" that really caught my eye.

First there's Toxic Vision. This hells' belle hails from Toronto and makes one of a kind threads that will make you feel like you are in a Motley Crue video from back in the day. You'll fit in perfectly on the Sunset Strip! Super hot mini dresses, jackets, and even spandex pants that will all make you wish we were still living in the 80's. There's not a piece of clothing that I don't like. I just wish I had the balls and enough coolness factor to pull it off.

The second player in this power duo of glam goodness is Heavy Metal Laundry. When you need the accessories to go along with the kick ass clothes that you just purchased from Toxic Vision, this is THE place to go. Cuffs for your wrists. Covers for your boots. Belts. All made from leather and all made to kick ass. The best part is...he names some of his lines after 80's hair bands. My favorite? The Shout at the Devil line of course! There is no better place than Toxic Vision and Heavy Metal Laundry to get all of your rockin' gear. You're not going to find stuff like this in the mall; Hot Topic doesn't carry anything nearly this cool.

4. Life on Planet Rock - Some of you may remember Lonn Friend. He was the editor of RIP magazine and had a segment, Friend at Large, on Headbanger's Ball (when Headbanger's Ball was still cool). In 2006, he published his memoirs, Life on Planet Rock. He tells his tales of life back in the decadent 80's and early 90's when rock was really still all about sex, drugs, and rock 'n' roll. Starting with page one, jealousy grows in the veins of the reader while you read every juicy, delectable detail of musically historic moments that he was able to experience...and you weren't. His kindness and honesty opened the gates and let him into the very coveted lives of some of the industry's greatest rock stars. If you are a fan of rock 'n' roll, then you need to read this book. You won't be able to put it down.

6. Running Wild in the Night - If the spirit of giving has taken over you, then consider giving to Running Wild in the Night, the fundraising project started by Motley Crue's Nikki Sixx to raise funds for Covenant House. Covenant House raises money to help support homeless and runaway teens by providing drug treatment and prevention, education, health care, transitional living programs and many other important things. The holiday season is a great time to help those less fortunate than us, so consider donating to Running Wild in the Night. You'll help teens who need it and you'll make one my favorite rock stars very happy in the process.

So if someone you know doesn't have a clue what to get you for Christmas, then hopefully my little gift guide will help steer them in the right direction. Whatever you get, I hope you all have a wonderful, happy holiday season full of gifts that don't suck!

PS - And if you're wondering what Hell on High Heels wants for the holidays, anything on this list will work, except for #2 and #4 because I already have them. :)

Good post...but just a day too late! I emailed my list to my grandmother yesterday...She doesn't do internet shopping, anyway, though...so it's probably the same difference.

I've heard mixed review on Life On Planet Rock...but I'd probably read it anyway! haha. I'm glad you liked it...I'll add it to the list of things for me to do.

I asked for the latest book by Seb Hunter (see my last blog post :)), Tesla's Forever More which I haven't heard yet, A copy of the Too Fast For Love reissued LP and a drum practice pad :)
