It's Not Fair!

Although I was around to see the fabulous era of glam bands in the 80's, I wasn't even close to being old enough to enjoy any of the debauchery that went along with it.

Lucky for me, I have a few friends that did live through it, and I was able to live vicariously through them (Ex: One friend was actually at the bar - one of the ones on the Sunset Strip - where Heather Locklear had her bachelorette party before she married Tommy Lee, and same said friend got cornered by CC Deville in one of those Sunset Strip bars).

But no one can top my friend Tommy. Although I have not heard all of his stories...yet, I can only imagine what kind of legendary tales he has to tell me. Tommy was the bass player for Lita Ford during the Kiss Me Deadly days, and he also played bass for Alice Cooper and Whitelion.

So my fiance and I are at a local bar on Saturday night and we happen to run into Tommy. We're all drinking and talking and having a good time. I honestly can't remember what the topic of conversation was but Tommy just busted out with ,"Yeah, I remember when I was living with Steven Adler back in LA...." I almost threw up on myself.
I was immediately on Tommy like someone who had their first taste of food after not eating for months, "What? What did you just say? You lived with Steven Adler? Are you f-ing kidding me? You and me. We HAVE to get together sometime. I want to hear all of your stories." The best part about all of this is that Tommy is SO modest about everything. He kept trying to reassure me that he didn't have any really bad stories, that he didn't have good stories, that he didn't know that many rocks stars. He just tried to blow it all off like it was nothing. God love him...he's such a genuinely nice person.
But one day my friends, one day soon...I'm going to pick his brain clean of all the stories he has from the 80's. Damn it, I can't wait!

He did used to work on the docks? How did you know? Unfortunately, the union's been on strike, so he's down on his luck. It's tough. ;)
